SAMPLE PROJECTS:

The Heinz Endowments and The Pittsburgh Foundation ( http://www.heinz.org ) ( http://pittsburghfoundation.org )
The Heinz Endowments and The Pittsburgh Foundation, leading Pittsburgh philanthropies, are major supporters of Pittsburgh's arts and cultural community, and in 2012 they launched the first major grant program in Pittsburgh to provide support directly to artists. We helped to design Investing in Professional Artists: The Pittsburgh Region Artists Program, including the creation of program guidelines and peer panel processes, and continue to provide expertise to support this program. The philanthropies also turned to us to help them design and implement the program's annual  Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards, a process that provides a "no-strings-attached" award to an emerging and an established artist and includes a community celebration of artists.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust (www.TrustArts.org)
We facilitated a major strategic planning process for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, including leading of twenty stakeholder meetings with trustees, members of advisory boards and arts community leaders. We currently provide planning and direction for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Shared Services office, a unique collaboration of the Cultural Trust and five other major Pittsburgh performing arts organizations that work together to source insurance and services, and implement joint marketing projects to build audiences for their performances in Pittsburgh's downtown Cultural District.

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra ( www.njsymphony.org )
New Jersey Symphony Orchestra engaged us to help them re-envision their Department of Education and Community Engagement. We worked with a board/musician task force, engaged musicians and staff in one-on-one interviews, facilitated meetings, and researched best practices and innovative programs elsewhere. The results of our work included the establishment of two separate departments that could better focus on the unique needs of their different constituencies.

The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center ( www.childrenshomepgh.org )
While much of our work is in the arts, culture and philanthropy, we have worked with a variety of other types of nonprofits, including The Children's Home & Lemieux Family Center, a family-focused healthcare nonprofit that operates a specialty pediatric hospital, adoption services, and a daycare center for medically fragile children. We've led the development of multi-year plans, revised their board governance structure and created related board operations documentation, and assisted with staff restructuring and searches.

Westmoreland County Food Bank (www.westmorelandfoodbank.org)
In 2008 Westmoreland County Food Bank learned that 40,000 households in Westmoreland County were experiencing significant food insecurity, but were not accessing the WCFB's food assistance programs. Working with a partner, Prescott & Associates, we helped WCFB assess their capacity for program expansion, and develop a program matrix and communications plan that enabled them to quickly step up and serve these area residents.
